Our workshops offer so much more than information. Returning from a career break, starting a business, paying down debt or building wealth doesn’t have to be done alone! Our three pillar approach – education, community, and action, ensures you are armed with the knowledge you need to be successful, a plan in place to reach your goals, and a network of awesome mamas to help lift you up on your journey.
Women need community to reach their goals. We like to validate our ideas, discuss opportunities, and support one another. But mamas virtually NEVER talk about money, even thought it's something we think about every day. Mamas and Money strives to bring together like-minded mothers to inspire and empower one another to make smart money & career choices.
Moms want to give their families the best, but it’s hard to keep up with all the needs and wants of our family PLUS save for retirement, children’s college, and all the other things we know we’ll need money for.
Do you feel like there’s got to be a better way to earn and save money than what you’re currently doing?
Now be honest, who do you talk to about these questions? Friends? The other mamas at work? Probably not. It’s not ladylike. It’s not in our comfort zone. Honestly, I know some women who if given the choice of a financial education seminar or a colonoscopy would pick…well, you know. But that's not going to be you.
Momming can be hard. So can managing money for your family. Put the two together and it can be a real challenge.
Mamas and Money is here to help mothers like you work and save smarter, not harder. I know you’re already working as hard as you can! But a little bit of financial education and a fresh perspective in your career can catapult your family’s finances.
This is a save place to help you through every money question you have in the back of your mind. Think for a sec. What do you secretly wish you knew about making money, spending money, saving money and getting out of debt?
Together, we’re gonna up our mom game through money.
My love of money and business began in college, after a surprising start. I first decided I would pick a major where I could take the least amount of math classes. Yep, I hated math so much and was so uncomfortable with money that I was willing to make one of the biggest decisions of my life based on how to avoid it. But then something changed.
A family member started talking to me about finance. He talked to me about saving and the stock market. He talked to me about business. I was curious at first, but after my first business course I was hooked. All I needed was a gentle nudge from a supportive mentor.
I went on to earn a Bachelors of Business Administration from Walsh College and a MBA from the Ross School of Business at University of Michigan, and held a successful career in commercial banking and finance for over 15 years.
On a personal note, I live in Tennessee with my husband and two kids, ages 9 and 6. We’re a family of adventurers. We lived in Singapore and Japan before Tennessee, and love traveling to new places.
In my years of coaching female entrepreneurs, I kept hearing the same messages loud & clear:
1. Women wanted access to more women mentors and advisors.
2. Many chose to start their own business because they didn’t feel their corporate career fit their mom lifestyle.
3. Most women were uncomfortable with money and finance, both in their business and in their personal life.
Eventually, working with women entrepreneurs only wasn't enough, because I knew so many more women weren't getting where they wanted to go with their money. Money and momming to together. I wanted to create a place where mothers could get help in all areas of their money life, regardless of their employment status, BY A MOM who gets it. Through this, Money Career & Motherhood was born.
Being wealthy in one area of life but poor in another is a quick way to frustration and overwhelm.
It takes more than a fat savings account for moms to be happy! Fulfillment in your career, using your skills as a SAHM, and family happiness are all involved in a mom's money story.
